Photo Essay

During the summer holidays before I came to GLPS camp, my cousins were visiting from Hawaii for their summer holidays. It was a very wonderful time because they do not visit often, and I had a really nice time with them in lots of different places, even though it was a short time. These are seven photos below which shows the theme "Family" for the past few weeks.

ICE-CREAMMMMM
I was in an ice cream shop cafe, since it was a cafe it smelled like coffee, which I really like the smell of. When I first went there, I didn't like the ice cream, but, now, its one of my favorite ice creams. It tastes like frozen milk and has very nice and soft smell. There were a lot of people which bothered me but could not get me out of the amazing feeling of ice cream. I really loved it. There were a lot of people. Due to the many people there were a lot of noise so we had to leave quickly to avoid the loud noise.

Korean beef
I could smell the meat getting cooked. I was very loud due to a lot of people in the restaurant. A lot of people were laughing like our family and the meat tasted do good when it went in my mouth. I thought I was about to fly. It smelt really good. Exactly whet I was expecting. My eyes started itching and tearing up due to the smoke from the fire. After we were all done eating, as we were all moving to and ice cream shop nearby we all smelt like Korean beef. :p
Taking care of twins :)
When we went to a resort for our relaxation, I had to take care of the twin babies because my parents and relatives were all away. The room was filled with smell of baby powder and baby diapers. When I looked down at the babies, I realized that they looked very similar. So similar that they would be made when the grew up. I got to know the twin babies more bay taking care of them for hours before my parents and aunts came back.

Morning sandwich
I woke up in the morning because of the noisy sounds made by my cousins and sister. When I finally woke up, I realized that my cousins were lying on top of me. They were making sandwiches. I smelt something delicious, and saw my mom, grandmother and my aunt cooking. They were making, getting ready for breakfast. My cousins were getting heavier as I actually realized. My aunt was actually making Hawaiian traditional kimbab. Which had ham and rice with a secret ingredient that I still did not find out, but it tasted really good.
Swimming
We went out to the swimming pool. I had a lot of fun. We swam and played football(soccer) and different games, which I really enjoyed. We ate my favorite cookies which chocolate inside, which was really good. But I ended up eating only one because of my cousins, who were attacking like hungry Hyenas. Most of us smelt like chlorine which was bad but good because we were clean, but I really enjoyed the trip and had a lot of fun and good memories.

Turban hair day
Back t my grandma's house, I made my aunt's hair into a turban. Everyone was laughing, which was really nice. I could smell sweet in the kitchen, but still couldn't figure out why. Weather was very nice, no rain, not too hot. I can tell it wasn't hot because I am not sweating in the photo. My mom was telling me off for making her sister look funny.
Family Photo
Lastly, one of my favorite photos was this group photo we took. There were a lot of people and smelt really good due to the buffet next to the photo place. We all said "cheese" and were all very happy. It felt weird with my new short hair, but I was getting used to it. I was happy but amazed by the huge arrangement of our whole family of my mother's side meeting.

In conclusion the topic(theme) "Family" before I came to GLPS camp was a very exciting time for me and and opportunity to try out and eat a lot of stuffs with my adorable cousins, whom I didn't meet for a very long time. I enjoyed it so much, and I wish this opportunity comes back again.

Movie Review

A few days ago I watched a movie called "Mao's Last Dancer". This movie inspired me a lot so I decided to write a review about the movie. I will be writing about the movie and some opinions about what I thought of the movie.

The movie was basically about a boy living in a small town in China, going to school, when people from Beijing came and he got selected for special training to be a ballerino. During the process he had troubles, such as being disliked by one of the ballet teachers. Then later, he got inspired by one of the ballet teacher called Mr.Chen. He did his best for Mr. Chen and got selected to go to the US. There he met a girl called Elizabeth. Elizabeth was one of the ballerinas in the Houston Ballet Company but sh\e wasn't good enough to get Ben's attention.

They (Li & Elizabeth) started dating, and Li was achieving so much and falling in love with ballet even more than before. The Chinese government wanted Li to return to China because they thought Li was living under the western influence for so ling, but Li did not want to go back to China. So he decided to marry Elizabeth to become an American Citizen.

When he decided to do that, the Chinese came and locked him up to convince him to return to China, but he didn't, even though staying in America meant he could never go back to China ever, until it was revoked.

Later Elizabeth and Li started to fight because Li was getting invited to places to dance but Elizabeth wasn't so she left Li to follow her dreams. Then when Li continued on with his dreams and on a very big concert of his life, about eight years later, after he performed his parents and Li met and it was a very touching moment that I almost cried in. That was the basic story line of the movie.

I would give the movie the rating 9 out of 10. The story was interesting, it was inspiring but in my opinion it wasn't very funny. To have got the last one point maybe humor could have been added but the points I gave were because they were very inspiring and touching, heart melting and also because it was a real story, that's why maybe I was able to relate more with the characters and get inspired by realistic people.

Personally I kind of like the movie because the movie was interesting. The movie was good but I wished it had a better beginning and ending because the ending was just more background information and the opening was just flashbacks and fro me personally flashbacks tend to be boring. Also if I was the movie director, I would have used a different actor because when I was watching the movie with my friends and other people they were like "The actor is getting uglier as he gets older..." and that was exactly what I was thinking. But still one of the most inspiring parts of the movie was when the teacher was talking about the frog and the well story. When I heard it, it didn't really mean much to me, honestly, but when I thought about it. I am out of the well if I was the frog because currently I am out of  Korea and exploring the outside world which is a great opportunity.

When I think about the characters, when Li made that decision not to go back to China the negative points were he would never be able to see his parents and can't go back to his hometown. He also caused inconveniences to Mr. Foster, his lawyer, Lori his dance partner, Ben, his ballet coach and so on. He also may not be able to get used to the USA.

Positive points were, he could stay with his wife, and that he can dance as freely as he wants, also more comfortable in like life and stuff. If i think about him.

There is a teacher who inspired Li which was Mr.Chen. If I had to talk about someone that inspired me then I would say, right now, currently, I do not have a person who inspires me but later on I might have one. The person who most inspires me now are my parents. When I was young I always had the thought that I wanted to be like my dad when I grew up.

So in conclusion I think the movie "Mao's Last Dancer" deserves a 9 out of 10 marked score and was a very interesting and inspiring movie and I liked it very much overall.
